Short answer
Yes, up to a point. Connected to your ad accounts through an MCP server, an AI assistant can read performance across Meta, Google and Amazon at once, build a campaign, find wasted spend and prepare budget or bid changes. What it should not do is act unattended, because it has no way to know your margins, your stock levels or your brand risk unless you tell it.
What AI genuinely does well today
The useful work is not creative generation. It is account operations: the repetitive reading and cross-checking that eats a media buyer's morning. An assistant with tool access pulls last week's numbers from several accounts at once, ranks campaigns by wasted spend, mines search terms for negatives, spots the ad set that has drifted past its target cost per acquisition, and drafts the fix.
Building is real too. Give a connected assistant the goal, offer, audience, budget and guardrails and it assembles the campaign: structure, targeting, keywords grouped into ad groups, copy variants, extensions. Muze creates those campaigns paused, so what you get back is a build to review rather than spend to discover later.
It is also the only practical way to ask a cross-platform question. No single ad platform will tell you whether Meta and Google are both claiming credit for the same order. That question needs a tool that can see all of them, which is the whole argument for connecting one.
Where it still falls over
These are not edge cases. They are the normal reasons an automated decision turns out to be wrong.
- Margin. No ad platform knows your cost of goods, so no assistant reading that platform knows it either. A 3x return on ad spend can be a slow loss. See what is a good ROAS.
- Inventory and operations. An assistant will happily scale the product you are about to run out of.
- Attribution lag. Yesterday's numbers are not final. Anything that reacts daily to unfinished data is reacting to noise.
- Brand and compliance judgement. Regulated claims, tone, and what you are willing to say in public all live outside the API.
- Anything you did not say out loud. Models do not infer the constraint you forgot to mention. They optimize the goal you actually gave them.
The operating model that holds up
Treat the assistant as an operator working to a brief, not an autopilot. You give the goal, the budget and the guardrails. It does the reading, the analysis and the build. Every change that touches the live account comes back as a preview before it runs.
Read-only integrations are safe because they are useless. The value is in acting: pausing the loser, moving the budget, adding the negative keyword. That is also where all the risk is, which is exactly why the confirm gate matters more than which model you use.
This is a deliberately unfashionable position. The category is full of promises about autonomous agents. We would rather ship the version that asks.
What to do this week
Start read-only. Ask the assistant three questions you already know the answers to, and see whether it agrees with your own reading of the account. Muze's free tier is 25 read-only tool calls a month and needs no card, which is enough for that test.
If it holds up, enable writes on one platform and keep reading the previews properly for the first month. Then decide whether to widen it. The full setup is in the connection guide, and the safety model is covered in is it safe to connect AI to ad accounts.
Related questions
- Will AI replace media buyers?
- Not the good ones. It replaces the part of the job that is reading dashboards and re-keying numbers into spreadsheets. Choosing the offer, forming an audience thesis and deciding what a bad week actually means are still human work, and that is where most of the value was anyway.
- Can an AI launch a campaign without me approving it?
- Some tools allow it. Muze does not. Every write action returns a preview first and waits for your explicit confirmation, and new campaigns are created paused, so nothing you build starts spending until you activate it.
- Do I need a developer account to connect AI to my ad accounts?
- No, not if you use a hosted MCP server. You connect with OAuth and never mint an API token. You only need your own developer app if you are building software directly on the platform APIs.
- Which platforms can Muze reach?
- Meta Ads, Google Ads, Amazon Ads and Shopify. Meta, Google and Amazon support both reading and confirm-gated write actions. Shopify is read-only commerce data used for blended performance.
