Definition
Creative testing is the practice of running multiple ad concepts against the same audience to find which message, format or angle performs best. Effective testing changes one meaningful variable at a time, such as the hook or the offer, rather than producing many near-identical variations of a single idea.
What to know
Most accounts under-test angles and over-test details. Ten variations of the same concept with different button colours will not find a winner; three genuinely different arguments for the product usually will.
Tests need enough conversions to be readable. Calling a winner on a handful of purchases is noise, and it is how accounts end up scaling the worse ad with confidence.
