Definition
A safe zone is the area of an ad creative that stays clear of interface elements such as profile names, captions, buttons and progress bars. Placing text or logos outside the safe zone risks having them covered by the app's own UI, particularly in full-screen vertical placements like Stories and Reels.
What to know
The reserved areas differ by placement and change as platforms redesign their interfaces, so exact pixel margins should always be checked against the platform's current published specification rather than a number memorised last year.
The practical habit that survives redesigns is keeping essential text and branding toward the middle of the frame, and previewing the creative in the actual placement before launch.
