Muze MCP for ChatGPT

Run your ads from ChatGPT.

Add Muze as a custom connector and ChatGPT stops guessing about your account. It reads Meta, Google, Amazon and Shopify directly, and it cannot change anything without asking you first.

In short

You can run ads from ChatGPT by adding Muze as a custom MCP connector. Muze gives ChatGPT 149 tools across Meta Ads, Google Ads, Amazon Ads and Shopify, so it can read live performance, research competitors, and prepare campaign changes inside the chat you already use. Setup is an OAuth sign-in plus a connector URL: no developer account, no API token to mint, no platform passwords. Every write previews before it runs and new campaigns are created paused.

What this actually is

ChatGPT supports custom MCP connectors: outside servers that hand it a set of tools it can call on your behalf. Muze is one of those, built for paid media rather than for developers. Adding it gives ChatGPT 149 tools: 37 for Meta Ads, 41 for Google Ads, 48 for Amazon Ads, 15 for Shopify, 13 of them read-only, and 8 that work across all of them.

The practical difference is that you stop pasting exports. Most people asking ChatGPT about their ads today are dropping a CSV out of Ads Manager into the chat and hoping the column headers survived the trip. With the connector in place ChatGPT pulls the numbers itself, at account, campaign or ad level, across all four platforms in one answer.

Why the chat window is the right place

Ad platforms made their money by keeping you inside their interface. Most AI advertising tools answer that with a fifth dashboard, which is the same problem in a nicer font. The right place to run ads is wherever you are already thinking, which for a lot of operators is a ChatGPT tab that is open all day.

There is a less romantic reason too. The questions worth asking are cross-platform, and ChatGPT is the only thing on your screen that does not belong to an ad network. Asking Meta whether Meta is overstating its own conversions has never produced an interesting answer. Asking ChatGPT, with read access to Meta, Google, Amazon and Shopify in the same session, does.

How connecting works

You need a Muze account with at least one connected ad or commerce account. Connection is OAuth throughout. Muze never asks for your platform passwords, and access is limited to the accounts you pick.

  1. Create a Muze account and authorize your accounts. Sign up for Muze and authorize the accounts you want available: Meta Ads, Google Ads, Amazon Ads, Shopify, or any combination. Standard OAuth, no developer application to file, no API token to mint.
  2. Add a custom connector in ChatGPT. Open ChatGPT Settings, go to Connectors, and choose Add custom connector. OpenAI labels this area Connectors or Apps depending on plan and rollout, and custom MCP connectors are gated by plan and workspace permissions.
  3. Enter the Muze MCP URL. Paste https://backend.muzecmo.com/mcp as the connector URL.
  4. Authorize Muze and verify the connection. Sign in with Muze when prompted and approve the connection. Then start a new conversation and ask ChatGPT to list your connected ad accounts. It should call get_my_accounts and come back with them by name.

If the custom connector option is missing from your settings, that is an OpenAI plan or workspace permission. Nothing on the Muze side changes it.

What you can ask once it is connected

Start with a bounded job. “How are my ads doing” gets a worse answer than “compare the last 7 days to the 7 before it on Meta and Google, and tell me what changed.”

  • List my connected ad accounts and summarize performance for the last 7 days. Calls get_my_accounts first, then get_meta_performance and get_google_performance for the accounts it finds.
  • Show my blended MER for the last 30 days. get_blended_performance sums Meta, Google and Amazon spend against Shopify revenue in one call.
  • Which Amazon search terms spent money without converting this month? list_amazon_search_terms pulls the report, and create_amazon_negative_keywords is offered as a confirm-gated follow-up.
  • Pull my competitors' current Meta ads and tell me what angle they are all running. scrape_competitor_ads and get_competitor_ads read from the Meta Ad Library.
  • Build a Google Search campaign for the summer launch, keep CPC under $8, and leave it paused. launch_google_search returns the full build for review before anything is created.

Those are real tool names, not illustrations.

Nothing spends until you say so

An agent that only reports is a nicer spreadsheet, so Muze can act. The gate in front of it is what makes that safe.

  • Every write previews first. You see exactly what will change, and it waits for your confirmation.
  • New campaigns are created paused. Creating one cannot start spending.
  • Access is scoped to the accounts you authorize over OAuth, and you can revoke it.
  • Muze never takes a percentage of your spend. You pay for software, and your budget stays yours.

ChatGPT will also ask you to approve tool calls at its own level, which is a second gate on top of Muze's. Two confirmations is not excessive when the subject is live budget.

Where ChatGPT is the wrong client

Custom MCP connectors are gated. Availability depends on your plan, and in a team workspace on whether an admin has enabled custom connectors at all. If the option is not there, retrying the URL will not conjure it.

Context is the second limit. ChatGPT will happily summarize forty campaigns, and the summary gets vaguer as the row count climbs. Ask for the top ten by spend when the number has to be right. Third, a chat is not a schedule. If you want the same audit every Monday, you have to ask for it every Monday, and a terminal client is the better fit for that.

One connection, four platforms

The connector is not per platform. Authorize Meta Ads, Google Ads, Amazon Ads and Shopify once, and every one of them is reachable from the same conversation. That is the point: single-platform tools cannot answer the questions that matter at any real volume, because those questions are comparisons.

Platform detail: Meta Ads, Google Ads, Amazon Ads, Shopify. The Muze MCP overview has the tool inventory, pricing has the plans, and every supported client is listed in one place.

Frequently asked questions

Can ChatGPT actually run my Meta ads?
Yes, with the connector added and a paid Muze plan. ChatGPT can create campaigns, ad sets and ads, pause them, change budgets and update copy. Every write previews first, and new campaigns are created paused.
Which ChatGPT plan do I need?
That is OpenAI's call. Custom MCP connectors are gated by plan and, in a team workspace, by admin permissions. The Muze side is identical whichever plan you are on: same endpoint, same 149 tools.
Does ChatGPT see my ad account passwords?
No. You authorize Meta, Google, Amazon and Shopify over OAuth inside Muze. Muze never receives platform passwords, ChatGPT never sees a credential, and access is scoped to the accounts you chose and revocable.
What can I do on the free Muze plan?
25 read-only tool calls a month across all four platforms. Enough to connect, read performance, check blended MER and look at competitor ads. Pausing, budget changes and campaign creation require a paid plan.
Can it spend money without me noticing?
No. Writes preview and require confirmation, new campaigns are created paused, and Muze never holds or moves your ad budget. The ad platforms bill you exactly as they do today.
How is this different from pasting a CSV into ChatGPT?
A CSV is a snapshot with nothing behind it. A connector gives ChatGPT live reads plus the ability to act, so it can follow blended MER down to the ad set that moved and prepare the fix.
